We got it all put together!
I mentioned the other day that our orbit baby stroller arrived. Well, we have it all assembled and I love it! I'm so happy with the finished product. I just can't believe that in a few days we will be pushing our little girl around in it!

So thankful for family and friends
Today I did 5 loads of laundry to get all of baby girls things ready for her impending arrival. Until I got into it I honestly had no idea just how much stuff we had!! I am so thankful for the generosity of our family and friends and everything they have already given us. I feel very blessed.

A wonderful weekend in Cape Breton
This past weekend, Ron and I took a chance and drove 4 from Halifax (and my hospital) to visit his family in Cape Breton, and I'm SO glad that we did! I hit 39 weeks on Saturday so more than a few people told me I was crazy, but it was so nice to get away for the weekend and to finally meet everyone. I had never been to the Cape Breton highlands before, and his family owns a resort right on the Cabot trail, called the Lakes Resort. It was a busy but wonderfully relaxing weekend. Most of his family headed to the resort on Saturday afternoon for a little get together to see him and to meet me and we had such a great time getting to know each other. That night we had a fantastic dinner at the restaurant and then went back to his sisters place where we stayed up late talking. On Sunday we got up and drove out to the Cabot Trail, had lunch on the wharf in Cheticamp at Wabos pizza and then hit the beach for the rest of the afternoon. Unfortunately Monday morning we had to hit the road early so we could get back to Halifax in time for Ron to work. It went far to fast, but I am grateful for every moment we had.
Here are just a few pictures from the trip - as well as a special little gift from Ron's aunt Debbie.

Getting settled
I haven't had a chance to post in a few days as things have been a little bit hectic! I left Toronto on Thursday morning and flew to Moncton for the weekend. Yes, I flew at just under 38 weeks - but with my doctor's permission. It was my dad's 70th birthday and I am so glad I was able to be there. Ron was able to be there too, which was really special. It was the first time he met my family and I certainly kept him busy running around and introducing him to everyone.
On Sunday we drove to Halifax with a car FULL of our stuff (I cannot believe i didn't get a picture of it...there were even things piled up on my lap). We moved into our new place that evening and I absolutely love it. It's only temporary - we have it for the next two months - but it is the most beautiful place I have ever lived, and I wish I could take it with us!

Today we put together our pack and play. Since we will only be here for 2 months, she will be sleeping in this next to us. It wasn't to difficult to put together (thank god for the directions) and now it is sitting right next to our bed. I love it. Every time I walk into the room I feel a rush of emotion. I am so excited to meet her and am so happy we have such a lovely place that will be her first home.

The most wonderful weekend ever
This past weekend was probably one of the best of my life. I've said it before, but I have an AMAZING group of friends in California. I spent only a year and a half there, but forged some friendships that will last me a lifetime. I've always felt blessed to have these people in my life, and this past weekend they showed me just how much that friendship meant.

Many of my friends and former coworkers pitched in to get me down to LA for the weekend. It was a quick trip but they absolutely showered me, and my baby girl with love. I was blown away by the number of people that contributed to getting me there and the generosity they showed us.
Although every moment of the weekend was perfect, the highlight was definitely the shower on Saturday to celebrate our baby girl. There is so much I could say about the entire afternoon, but I thought pictures might do it better than any words I could write. Below are just a few of the pictures from the day.

My wonderful friend Kat (top left) hosted the event, and 10 of my dearest friends came out to share the day with me. We played silly shower games, ate AMAZING food, caught up on two years of life and enjoyed just being together. One of the most special parts of the afternoon was our 'craft time'. Everyone was given a onsie to decorate and each of the girls designed a special custom made gift for our baby girl. I couldn't have imagined how beautiful they would turn out! I can't wait to dress her up in them all and tell her all about the amazing woman that made it, especially for her.
Thank you to Kat, Eleah, Shawn, Janelle, Michelle, Kim, Susan, Janet, Liz and Emily for blessing me with such an amazing afternoon. Thank you to Lyric, Melanie, Dama and Tamara who couldn't be there but still sent lots of love. And thank you to everyone else who helped make it possible to be there and sent gifts and well wishes for our little one.
I cannot wait to bring her back to LA to meet all of you, and I feel SO blessed to call you all friends. I love you. xo

baby crocs

I'm not going to lie, I've never been a big fan of crocks (sorry to all those who are). But Ron loves baby crocs and after looking at them, I have to agree. Today I was walking past the crocks store on Queen street and I couldn't resist going inside. I walked out with this cute little pair for baby girl. I love them.

We bought a crib!
We finally bought something significant for baby girl and it feels SO good! I had taken yesterday off work and Ron and I drove down to Buffalo to do a bit of shopping. It's AMAZING how much better the prices are south of the border! We ended up picking up a crib and mattress and I couldn't be happier! The crib and mattress were about $60 less than the crib alone here in Canada. We decided to go with the graco lauren convertable crib. We are thrilled with the crib and the price and it makes me feel so much better knowing we have at least started to prepare for baby girl's arrival.
Unfortunately we were less thrilled when we went to put it in the car, and realized there was no way the box was going to fit. We had to take every piece out of the box and load it up that way. It is now sitting in a pile on the living room floor. Since we are moving to Halifax at the end of the month, we won't bother to assemble it just yet, but we are going to have to figure out a better way to package it before then!

Best package EVER
I don't know if I've said it on here before, but I have a pretty amazing man in my life. Unfortunately, the last 6 months he has been working out of town, which means we have been doing the long distance thing. Well, today that all comes to an end and he's coming back...which makes today a pretty spectacular day. Just when I thought it couldn't get much better - I came home to find the best package ever in our mailbox. It was addressed to our little girl, from her father and of COURSE I ripped it open right away. Inside was the most precious little bath wrap, some teethers and a BEAUTIFUL card celebrating the upcoming arrival of our little girl. I'm pretty in love with two people right now, and I'm not going to lie, am feeling pretty darn lucky.

Oh, and since the package did come addressed to our little girl, I had to blur the name. While we have pretty much narrowed it down - we arn't telling.

A sleeping bag for baby girl
I'm only 24 weeks pregnant, but all I want to do is shop for our little girl. It is SO hard not to buy everything in sight. So far, I have been pretty good, but when a good buy comes along, I can't resist. Just this week I received the aden + anais cozy sleeping bag. I've read really great things about this cozy sleeping bag for a new born baby. It 's a natural muslin bag and should get her through her first Canadian winter quite nicely. Oh, and the best part? I got it at a GREAT price! This item was featured on babysteals.com. If you are a mom, a mom-to-be, or just need to shop for a mom in your life, check out this site. Everyday they have one item at 50-80% off. You can follow them @babysteals (and while your on twitter be sure to follow me too @becoming_a_mom).
